The Proposed TIRZ 9 Walking Trail project represents a
unique opportunity to expand community amenities. The trail, once complete,
will provide safe and accessible pedestrian connections to Sims Bayou, nearby
schools, and surrounding neighborhoods. This amenity will transform
underutilized detention basin areas into an active, attractive, and sustainable
public space that supports recreation, wellness, and connectivity. The project
builds on existing infrastructure—detention ponds constructed to accommodate
impervious cover so that stormwater management needs are met. The area will
gain a visible, long-lasting asset that delivers quality-of-life benefits,
strengthens neighborhood identity, and enhances the overall value of the
surrounding area.
